From the beginning, we want to warn the audience that the link to the video of New York Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez and Hall of Famer Juan Marichal acting as celebrity participants at a cockfight in the Dominican Republic might be disturbing. The video goes on to show the fight and what appears to be the death of one of the birds. Since the news broke about Martinez' involvement, battle lines have been drawn among the public between whether the the event is a non-story and Martinez should be left alone because the activity is legal and popular in the Dominican and those who think a rebuke is in order because the activity is illegal in the United States and considered by many to be inhumane.
