Clemens and McNamee make opening statements

Both Clemens and McNamee made opening statements. Clemens went first.

Clemens came out fired up and throwing it hard and down the middle. Bottom line: Clemens said he never took steroids or hGH.

McNamee held fast. He said he injected Clemens, Andy Pettitte and Chuck Knoblauch with PEDs. He said he never injected anyone with lidocaine or B-12. Clemens has said the injections he received from McNamee were for lidocaine and B-12. McNamee was contrite for his role in tainting baseball.

Both Clemens and McNamee said they have been betrayed by the other -- Clemens through McNamee's accusation and McNamee through Clemens and his lawyer playing a secretly taped telephone conversation in which McNamee's son's medical problems were discussed.
