Baltimore's Cummings asks first questions

U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings, a Baltimore Democrat, was the first congressional questioner. Cummings honed in on the Pettitte-Clemens conversations. Clemens said that Pettitte misremembers the earlier conversation at Clemens' Texas home and that this early reference to hGH in 1999 involved Clemens commenting on a story he saw about older men whose quality of life improved with the use of hGH. Regarding the 2005 conversation that was supposed to have occur in Kissimmee, Fla., where Clemens allegedly told Pettitte that Debbie Clemens had used hGH, Clemens said he didn't recall that conversation. He then mentioned that his wife had read a newspaper story about hGH.
