About last night, dear

There were NFL wild-card games over the weekend, but the event that will reverberate over the next weeks and months was the lawsuit that Roger Clemens filed last night against his former personal trainer, Brian McNamee. I'll give Clemens this, he has dramatic timing.

In Clemens' interview with Mike Wallace on "60 Minutes" that aired last night, the pitcher could barely contain his anger. I've covered enough trials not to be swayed one way or the other about a person's guilt or innocence by his demeanor in a public setting. Clemens did say a few things that caught my attention. One was that he challenged the notion that he supplied his own performance-enhancing drugs, asking out loud: If someone supplied this stuff, why haven't they come forward? Something else he mentioned for the first time was the large quantity of Vioxx he took to quiet pain, implying that those who regulate drugs allowed him to take something that has since been baned because of its alleged potential side effects.

But now comes the suit, and this is a bold move by Clemens.

Comments

One of the New York blogs, questions the comments by Clemens. Guy claims to be a doctor, brought up a very good point. Lidocaine is a local pain reliever and you dont inject it in your butt for a knee pain.

Clemens could have been talking about the B-12 relative to that part of his body. I certainly don't know enough about the drug to know about the lidocaine.

Should Roger be included on this list?

I took vioxx almost the whole four years it was out on the market.. my doctor only wrote me a total of four perscriptions, but gave me boxes of hundres of cards of vioxx samples... I showed some of the sample cards as well as my last script I had filled.... Yet the list of hurdles and hoops we have to jump through where Merck can determine how much your case is worth in their settlement agreement, only cover the things that are of a legal medical nature... what your records show, not things like this... I survived three major heart attacks and two massive strokes, all in the short time of less then ten months... I am just 45yrs old and was not far off my peak when I had my first massive heart attack!! now I am handicapped, unable to work and support my family... I still need operations to help my level of living... otherwise I will continue to get worse... If I settle now, then what becomes of my family and their being taken care of?? there are lawyers making a fuss about a couple of the provisions that apply to them... But what about where the whole thing really falls way short?? Oh, B.T.W. I was taking Vioxx right up till the day I had my first of three massive heart attacks..

Blessings,
