Ravens' Reed gets burned at roast
On Friday there was what amounted to a roast for Mike & Mike (Greenberg and Golic) of ESPN radio/TV fame to celebrate their eighth anniversary. The roast was held at the Showboat casino's House of Blues in Atlantic City.
Apparently, this wasn't exactly up to Friar's Club standards, according to a newspaper account in the Atlantic City Press. Instead of actual show biz types, the roasters were athletes and ESPN folks. Some speakers rambled, others were crude without being funny and some -- like Ravens Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed -- were apparently numbed beyond the point of being able to contribute at all. The master of ceremonies was someone named Jeffrey Ross, who got off one of the best lines of the night at Reed's expense.
So here's what was in the paper
Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed had jokes written for him, but didn't read any. Admitting he was drunk, Reed was pulled off the stage by Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis and former Jets star Joe Klecko. "I didn't realize his middle name was "Can't,'" Ross joked.

Class act, Ed. How sad!

He got a drunk at party! I really don't see what that has to with discipline. It's not like he was one of the players who racked up pentalties last year. He gambled a few times and lost two fumbles but he was one of the most consistent players on the team.

Thanks Ed Reed--just the kind of role model the kids need. Tired of these self-centered atheletes--just shut up, straighten up and play ball. Let's hope the new Ravens coach reinstills the notion that he, not the inmates, run the assylum! Also, let's get back to reality--we stunk up the place this year and embarressed Baltimore in front of national audiences.

Why didnt you post my response?
Isn't it common knowledge how much partying McNair was doing while he was hurt?

David,
What response ... and no. I'm posting this but, no offense, it's a little mystifying.
