Big Tuna picks Head Dolphin

Surprise! Bill Parcells hired Dallas' Tony Sparano as Miami's new head coach.

Sparano, who had been the Cowboys' assistant head coach, was beyond the leading candidate all along. He was a mortal lock. Sparano joins new Miami general manager Jeff Ireland, who also was hired by Parcells from the Dallas organization.

The overhaul that needs to take place in Miami is major, but the Dolphins start with the No. 1 pick overall. Early prediction is that Miami tries to trade the pick. I stress try because I'm not sure who would give up whatever you have to in order to be first in line to pick LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey -- or anyone else in this year's draft class for that matter.

So enough of the Dolphins. What's this mean for the Ravens?

Probably not much, not even as it applies to increased competition from the Cowboys for Jason Garrett. Dallas owner Jerry Jones knew Sparano was as good as gone, so whatever zeal Jones had in keeping Garrett in the Cowboys' corral is probably no greater or less than it was before the Miami announcement.
