Another NFL job opening

As expected, Cam Cameron was fired in Miami in today.

New Dolphins football poobah Bill Parcells had to start working quickly because the Falcons and Ravens are zeroing in on one of his head coaching candidates, Dallas assistant head coach Tony Sparano. Parcells has already grabbed one football executive from the Dallas organization, Jeff Ireland. Ireland was essentially in charge of pro and college scouting with the Cowboys and he's now the general manager in Miami where Parcells is vice president in charge of football operations. Sparano coached for Parcells and actually called plays when the Tuna was running the show in Big D.

Cameron had just one season with the Dolphins and was hired in Miami after Nick Saban left for Alabama. Cameron's main calling card was that he was the offensive coordinator for San Diego but he was dogged by misfortune in Miami.  His starting quarterback, Trent Green, was knocked out for the year with a concussion.  His best receiver, Chris Chambers, was traded to the Chargers.  His best running back, Ronnie Brown, went on IR with a knee injury. Cameron's only win in a 1-15 season came against the Ravens in what, interestingly, was likely one reason why Brian Billick was fired in Baltimore.

Did Cam have a real role in the Dolphin's dreadful draft last year? I dont think he did.

That's why Randy Mueller was the first to go.
