About last night, dear

The Washington Redskins ended their four-game losing steak with a 24-16 home win over Chicago last night in a Thursday night game that reflected it was being played by two weary teams.

The Redskins were playing with the equivalent of about a day-and-half of preparation after spending Monday at the funeral of slain teammate Sean Taylor. The Bears didn't have that burden but were traveling halfway across the country in the season's late stages on just a few days' rest.

The highlight of this NFL Network game was backup quarterback Todd Collins coming off the bench for the Redskins and passing Washington to the win. That might be because he was one of the few guys on the field who wasn't exhausted. The two starting QBs, Washington's Jason Campbell and Chicago's Rex Grossman, left with injuries. Guys were getting dinged left and right -- for instance, for Washington TE Chris Cooley, RB Clinton Portis, CB Fred Smoot all limped off.  Some of the injured returned to the game but my sense is that these guys were playing with tanks on half-empty from the opening kickoff. The teams combined for less than 100 rushing yards.

Unlike the previous Thursday night game between Green Bay and Dallas, this is was not must-see TV.

Comments

According to the radio one of the Redskins was in the locker room getting IVs and when the game was near the end and the Bears were starting to make a come back. He pulled out his IV and went back out and played.

I dont like Thursday games, with the exception of Thanksgiving day. Its not fair to a sport that is so demanding physically.

Capt.,
I could not agree more and you would hear every coach and player say the same thing.
