It's the new season of The Ultimate Fighter

The Ultimate Fighter 12 season starts with two coaches that are very talented, but truly opposite personalities. Josh Koscheck is the perfect bad boy and Georges St. Pierre is the perfect good guy. It’s the professional wrestling formula of babyface versus the heel.

But it seems Koscheck has taken on the bad guy role for TUF 12. Talking on a conference call he said, “I’m the villain, Georges is the squeaky-clean superman guy.”

St. Pierre was asked about the show casting a good guy versus bad guy. He said, “You know, good guy, bad guy, I don’t think [any of that is] true.  I don’t think Josh Koscheck is a bad person.”

Koscheck responded by saying, “You just made my day.  Sticking up for me.  I’ll send you a text message later, and we’ll cuddle.”

I hope we don’t see a season of trash talking like last year's coaches, Quinton Rampage and Rashad Evan. It became the main story of the show and not the fighters. The coaches build this great hatred for each other and there eventual fight didn’t live up to the trash talking. I think the coaches yapping detracts from the stories of the fighters. I would like to see more about the fighters journey, fighting for small shows and dreaming of one-day being in the UFC.

Enough about the coaches, the show is about the fighters.

The one fighter I’m very familiar with is Nam Phan. I’ve seen five of his fights with King of the Cage (KOTC) fight promotion and Strikeforce. He’s a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a professional boxer with a 3-1 record. He has fought on two Strikeforce cards, losing one by decision to Josh Thomson.
