Dana White has a message for Anderson Silva

Dana White said Wednesday if Anderson Silva acts how he did in the ring during UFC 112, he would cut him from the UFC. Talking on ESPN’s Jim Rome show White said, “I haven’t seen anything that bad not even in all my years of watching boxing.”

White said, “The thing that really upset me was that he (Anderson Silva) felt that he didn’t owe anyone an apology.”

Silva’s next opponent is Chael Sonnen, another fighter that will want to take the fight it to the ground.

Are White and Joe Silva choosing the best opponents that would make for an exciting fight?

Does Chael Sonnen have a shot at beating Silva or will we see a repeat of the Maia fight or an early knock out?

I would like to see Patrick Cote brought back to fight Silva. I truly believe he will give the beating required. The last fight only ended for Silva because of the injury to Cote... My thoughts

I think the original fight for Silva would have been a far more interesting match up. Perhaps an unbeaten Maia would have approached the fight another way, getting Knocked out in the opening seconds of the first round against Nate Marquardt, just what Silva done to James Irving, Would plant a seed of doubt in Maia's head. One that he obviously could not overcome. I agree that White and Joel Silva should put real challanges in front of their Champions. As someone who invests money into the sport, paying the pay-per-view and going to see the shows when they are in the UK and Ireland, I demand it.

I hate how silva acted at 112 but he keeps getting bjj guys and that's his weakest games dana white and everyone say they want a exciting fight well give him vitor you can't blame him for not going to the ground. It tells me ufc wants silva to lose the belt cause they keep giving him bjj guys hoping hell get caught in a sub.

Sonnen is a Greco Roman wrestler, not a BJJ fighter.

You're right stubs. He is a wrestler.

first of all i think silva put on a show. he showed the world maia should not be in the ring with him. he was no match for the champ i think it was a bad match up. Silva wants to fight the best and she should be giving the best oponents. For his next fight it will be the same thing. he will take out gsp and possibly any light heavy weights. i dont agree with dana white, Silva has nothing to apologize for. He was giving an oponent that could not stand a chance. i would of done the same thing. he wants to fight the best so give him the best and he will show why he is truly the best pound for pound fighter on the planet

Anderson Silva, whether we like it or not is a great fighter. Yeah his action last 112 was something you wont expect from a champ. I think that's what irritates White. I think Dana's point is if you are the champ defend your belt like a champ and not as circus clown.

Despite this, I'll place my money on Silva in case his fight with GSP materialize.

I kind of want to see Silva goof around his next fight to see if Dana is really a man of his words.

I agree with most of the posters on here, as soon as I heard Sonnen annouced for the fight, I was extremely upset. I've been upset with Silvas opponents ever since Cote. Give him a real fighter. I understand that hes cleaned out his weight class already, so let him move up and fight someone like Rampage or Evans or Mir. Let him move down or have GSP move up to him.

I just think Silva feels disrespected by Dana White. He's told Dana that he wants to fight the best fighters. Dana keeps giving him good fighters that don't belong in there with him. Maybe its because in every other division you have someone that deserves a title shot, but in Silvas case, no one does or he really just is that much better than them.

He was running the final few rounds which set a lot of people off, but I thought the first 2 rounds were very entertaining. How often do you see someone just play with their fighter because they know they are THAT good. I really don't see a huge difference (not counting the last fight) from what GSP does to what Silva does. GSP doesn't stand up and takes opponents right to the ground and then just stays there the whole round. He doesn't finish them, he does try though.

The last Silva fight was not bad in the lst two rounds but after that it was a disgrace to the sport. If I did not know better I would have said Don King had something to do with the fight . I hope Silva gets it together so I don't lose respect for the sport like I did for boxing.
Silva needs to compete with the MMA mixed martial Arts not just boxing or stand up.

I was more than impressed with Anderson Silva's performance, especially in comparison to other boring
fights of so-called "prospects" of the Ufc.

It's unfortunate that a man, such as, Dana White, who has so much enthusiasm for the sport, clearly wears different hats when it suits him (bureaucracy) the most.

It's clear that he is two-faced. 1st by saying he is not willing to see George St. Pierre fight Anderson Silva at 185, but, would be more than willing to allow them to fight at 170. So, it's ok if Anderson loses, but, it's not okay for "st pierre". Strange, it is "georgie" that challenged Anderson in the 1st place, and Silva's initial response a year ago was: he's not dominating the guys in his own weight division, why would I have an interest in fighting him. Georgie, who walks around at 200lbs should have no issue making 185,... ah but you see, for a man who walks around at 215 to 220, that's ok if he drops to 170 because 80% of the battle will be fighting to cut and drain weight. Good one! Mr Dana White & Georgie St. Pierre. You don't want to fight a man at his best, no.. of course not... Georgie is younger, isn't that right, Mr Dana White-- and Anderson Silva has less than 5 fights left; and we all know that he's the best pound-4-pound fighter in the world because no one at 2 Weight Divisions can beat him.

That's right, 2 weight divisions, 185 and 205, this is the reason why, Quinton "rampage" Jackson won a very close decision against Dan "holywood" Henderson, BUT, could not put Dan away. Or how Forest Griffin (an excellent fighter whom I like) beat Quinton by chopping off his legs to become the LHW champion, but, was KO'd by Silva in their 1st outing.

Cut him loose - Dana, the UFC needs Anderson more than he needs them.
Because if he fight overseas, you'll have no jurisdiction to whom he fights, even if other UFC fighters quit your organization tomorrow morning. He'll be making Mayweather money. Not mention the up and coming companies such as strikeforce that would pay him royalty. De l'argent! De l'argent! De l'argent!

As far the next opponent Chael Sonnen? it shows me how delusional Dana White really is. The man was a good wrestler, as he was the olympic alternate, but, obviously no Dan Henderson, 2 time olympian with far superior skills than Mr Sonnen. We all know what happened when Henderson meet Silva, not to mention Damian Maia submitted Chael just last year. Now considering the absurd comments that Chael has said over and over again about the best pound-4-pound, Dana White is looking for the 1st death in MMA, and unlike Demain Maia, Sonnen is not brazilian, therefore, Anderson Silva will show him no mercy.

You see Mr White, unless you're a Dictator or Communist, can you dictate the style or how a person should display their emotions in the ring. The fight with Anderson-Maia was better than all the boulder-dash fights that I've seen with the boring Brock Lesnar, whom you've used to draw fans via his WWE Fame... Mr White, Get REAL!... If you had any face at all, then Brock would have faced the Great Shane Carwin before facing Frank Mir, again, or perhaps, the up and coming Velasquez, or even Junior Dos Santos, BUT, money 1st! and what the fans really want 2nd, besides, might as well get every penny out of Brock before the others tear him apart... I can see why the CEO of WWE, Mr vince mcmahon, is secretly trying prevent the growth of the UFC in Europe, not that I agree with his foolish antics, however, I suppose he feels that the proliferation of a sport should warrant its own sweat and not be piggy-backed on by the established world of "sports-entertainment".

But, don't worry Mr White, if Brock ever leaves the UFC, I assure you, he won't be joining K1, afterall, he's not Alistair Overeem, who fights in an organization that allow its fighters to compete in more than one company simultaneously.

As far as trying to acquire Fedor Emelianenko, he's under the control of the M1 Circus, mainly because of "Vadim", but, then again, you're looking more like him everytime you open your mouth.

Your Truly, Corey Turner

Corey,
I honestly could not have said it better. Great post!!

I was miffed by the weird behavior of A. Silva, but I fully understand it. I certainly don't condone it. May not rent again, since this is what tore the heart and soul out of boxing. I would like to see the best fight the best or Cung Le fight anyone rather than paying for bad mismatches time after time. Give us a break. We are making you and yours wealthy!

I think Silva needs to man up and finish any and all opponents if possible. To be a champ this is a must. When I fought in the IFL our coaches always said "ALWAYS FINISH, NO MATTER WHAT" For Silva to jump around like a jackass is not champ attitude. I would love to see him fight GSP, Griffin (again), Evans, Rich Franiklin....

Anderson Silva isn't a true champion! Someone needs to stand up and fight this guy HARD! I thought Forest would put this guy in his place but I guess he's mellowed out. That's the only time I have ever seen Forest look up at the clock. Someone who's got the heart of an entire pride of lions and the skill of a master needs to step up and beat this guy. Silva's got skill but he's never been tested. We need a true champion for the sake of the entire sport.
