MMA on CBS

MMA returns to CBS this weekend as Fedor takes on Brett Rogers and Strikeforce assembles a fairly entertaining card overall.

ESPN.com gives a quick breakdown on the two main fights, but I think it's pretty clear that Fedor and Jake Shields are going to win.

This is a big show though because it is Fedor's U.S. prime-time debut and it marks the first real MMA show on CBS. EliteXC was a joke and even the most casual fan now recognizes that. I know plenty of UFC fans were angered at the mention of EliteXC and their CBS deal.

How do casual fans feel about Strikeforce and CBS? At least they are marketing the right fighter. One of the sport's all-time greats instead of the biggest fraud in the sport's history. I think, at least, we can all agree that this will be good for the sport, right?

It seems like Fedor is a heavy favorite (-500, it seems) and there seems to be little money headed Rogers' way. Has there even been more of a sure thing than Fedor winning this fight? Especially with his superior ground game and Rogers lack of a ground game?

Even still, I can't wait for this show. It's about time to see Fedor back in action.

Can't wait for saturday! Going to be a great card and for free too! Im most excited for Mousasi and Fedor! Don't count out Rogers though, punchers chance...punchers chance.

Yes indeed. It is about time we see Fedor back in action. In this sport Fighters don't last many years so it's nice to it would also be nice to see Fedor fight more often because he's in his prime. I am also looking forward to Gergard's fight as well. Saturday is a very good day for MMA!

Disagree on Shields vs Miller.

I think Miller is more focused for this fight than he has been in a while. If he can keep the fight vertical, he's got the striker's advantage over Shields, who is way more comfortable looking at the rafters.

Fedor vs anyone but Mir, Barnett or Lesnar is a joke. First round via submission. The interesting fight is the bump-up fight in the womens 135 division. Coenen's thinks she won that first fight with Modafferi, and is going to be swinging for the fences to end the fight early, and convincingly to get the bout on the TV card.

But, I think your totally underestimating Brett Rogers if your calling him a fraud. Nobody with 1-strike KO power can be called a fraud in the fight game. And I think Fedor will be more at risk in this fight than he has in a while, at least as long as the fighters are on their feet. There are frauds in MMA, but Rogers isn't one of them.

I think Fedor wins via submission quick in the 1sr round over Rogers. I think Rogers' only chance of winning is landing a huge knockout blow (like Henderson did at UFC 100). But I just dont see that happening. Fedor is way too skilled and will take this to the ground and will win quickly.
