Forrest Griffin on why he ran from the cage

Just came across the Forrest Griffin interview with MMA Fanhouse, where Forrest Griffin talks about why he ran from the cage after losing to Anderson Silva.

“This guy actually asked me a good question the other day, and this is a real story and I really like it: first off, he was very confrontational; I didn't like him much to begin with, and he goes, 'Hey, man, I have to know,' because it's his business to know, 'why did you run out of the cage that night after the Silva fight?' And I said, 'Look, man, I haven't told anybody, let's keep this on the down low, but the truth is your mom was waiting for me in the back to suck my ****, and you know how good of a **** *** your mom gives, so I didn't want to be late for that ****.' And that's pretty much the answer I give. I like that answer, so I'll give that answer to everyone.” -- Forrest Griffin

I love Forrest Griffin. I love that he’d say that to someone that was being a jerk to him. My follow-up question would be, if he was so worried about being late, why not schedule that for a day other than his fight with Silva?

Griffin doesn’t have a good answer as to why he left the cage. Clearly, after an embarrassing loss, he wasn’t thinking straight. And I imagine he’s gotten a TON of hate for his actions (I can understand some of it, but most of it I can’t). So I hope this is coming more from the “Forrest being Forrest” side rather than “Forrest hitting his breaking point with fans harassing him over his exit.”

He’s a good guy, good for the sport, and his jaunt from the cage is not who he is. You aren’t who you are in your worst moment.

is he still running or did he see the sign to stop yet?

I saw either that same interview or a similar one where Griffin was really acting different than his normal self. It was apparent that he did not want to do the interview, but interviews are part of the business.

Forrest also reacted oddly when he lost to Jardine (I think it was Jardine) by crying while sitting against the fence. Not sobbing like he was disappointed, but crying like a baby and acting like he was unglued.

I'm sure embarrassment is the reason why he ran out of the Octagon. I'm sure he's frustrated with the loss and takes any losses hard. Not every fighter is going to handle losses the same.

So a reporter/fan ask a question, that everybody wants to know, is being a jerk to Griffin. Griffin in turn tells him he was going to get a blowjob from his mom....and the reporter/fan is the one being a jerk to him??? Forrest is a good guy??? What world do you live in where grown men who act like children, through tantrums and disrespect pretty much everybody, is a good guy. Forrest needs to grow the f up, take responsibility for his (stuff), and learn not to insult people who ask him why he wont grow up.

Pretty much the definition of class-less. The definition
