The Ultimate Fighter: Season 10 premiere
Anyone catch TUF 10 premiere after a great Fight Night? Spoiler alert: Rampage Jackson is not a very smart coach. Why he picked the first fight he did is beyond me. That was one of the most one-sided fights I've seen since Demian Maia went down. It was truly shocking too, because how could any fighter lose with Rampage in his corner?
"Get up, get up, get ... up!" was about all Rampage said during the fight. Maybe his fighter couldn't hear him, because he clearly did not take the advice. Maybe the fighter (still not naming him just for those who TiVo'd, although it should be fairly clear after watching 10 seconds of the first episode) didn't even think about that as a gameplan.
It should be an interesting season, especially because of the inclusion of Roy "Big Country" Nelson. How is that guy not anyone's first pick? He's going to win this season and he was picked towards the end.
And how long is it before Kimbo Slice gets knocked out? It has to be in the first fight he has, right?
UFC 103 preview coming tomorrow.

Yeah I loved the way that bald human filth shot in during the dap.I would have gouged his eye or headbutted him to even it up.Gabe has no ground and the other guy has no hands..nice heavyweights so far.

The early fights in the show are usually boring. It was clear from the footage preceding the fight that the looser didn't have that fire in his eyes. When he mentions that "fighting isn't [his] whole life," it's a clear sign that he doesn't have the drive and motivation to succeed in the sport. The guy who has nothing to loose, nothing to go back to is going to beat the $#!+ out of you every time.
I don't know what Rampage saw in him to begin with. Or maybe he was thinking about his film career.
Also, Dana White is no idiot. Kimbo is a veritable human slot machine, regardless of his skill level (or lack there of). Regardless of how big the UFC has become, Kimbo has fought for a national, broadcast audience, while UFC is still cable and PPV. People know who Kimbo is. I figure, Dana wants him to come through the season with enough momentum to fight a few times at numbered UFC events.
That's one of the reasons that there are more inexperienced fighters on this season, and the cast didn't have to compete to get on the show.
It's great that Roy Nelson thinks he's the baddest dude on the show. Props to Rampage for smashing on him the whole show.

Rampage is a terrible coach. He gives ZERO advice while his guys are fighting. He does a terrible job of assessing talent. I mean, the guy got to pick the first fight...he has his total roster to pin up against anyone on the opposing team and he got slaughtered.
I feel bad for everyone on his team. They're being handicapped by him.

Things worked out easily for Rashad but why didn't he give Rampage the first pick after winning the coin toss? He knew he was going to pick Kimbo, so he could have let him have his pick and then controlled the first two fights...not thinking.
Kind of early to tell, but if that first fight is any indication of the talent this season...it's going to be a joke.

I know that Kimbo seems somewhat of a joke to "those in the know," but I'll say this loud and clear... the guy's work ethic is unchallenged. He trains harder than anyone and he's got an unquenchable thirst for improvement. He's always learning, always becoming a more dangerous fighter.
I do hope that Rampage can bring a little more to the table than he did with Gabe. Man, that was a brutal coaching attempt. He may as well have been shouting "Stop bleeding, Gabe! Stop bleeding!"

I agree....this season is definitely lacking so far with the skill level of these guys. Kimbo Slice though can be a great fighter if he learns some take down defense. I mean Chuck Liddell made it all those years and he is not good at all on the ground but has a solid knockout punch. Hopefully the rest of the fights are a LOT more competitive than that first one. I hope that pick was on purpose Rampage bc that was a joke.

I don't know what Rampage was thinking picking that fight. Just as Rashad said,
"Thank you Rampage, you put my best wrestler with someone with no wrestling exp!"
Its clear that grapplers dominate MMA... Is Rampage that stupid?
Also, that is why Roy Nelson will go DEEP in the season... He might win it.

You know I was not impressed with Rampage's coaching either. He seems to be looking at everything from a size matters perspective. As for Chuck Liddell he was a Good if not gret wrestler in college so its not like he had no grappling experience at all. In fact it was his wrestling ability that gave him good takedoen defense. All that said I haev been more impressed with Kimbo's manner then I thought I would be. IF (thats a big word here) they can give Kimbo some good take down defense then I think he may do better then we think.
