Dream fights

For awhile, the fight everyone wanted to see was Randy Couture vs. Fedor Emelianenko. Then Brock Lesnar happened. With Fedor ducking the UFC, it’s not likely we’ll ever get Lesnar vs. Fedor, but is that still the fight everyone wants? In a perfect world, what fights are at the top of the wish list for most fans?

I think at the top of my list would be Georges St. Pierre vs. Anderson Silva. Dana White says he won’t make this fight because Silva is too big for St. Pierre, but before they each won their last fights this was a bout White hinted at on more than one occasion. Both look unbeatable and I’m sure both would be up for the challenge.

Brock Lesnar vs. Fedor
still has to be on the list, even if it won’t happen. Lesnar’s size, strength and athleticism have to make him a foe, right? It would be interesting like all of Lesnar’s fights, you just don’t know what to expect from him because he’s still fairly raw but he’s also an athletic freak.

Fedor vs. Silva. Silva had no trouble destroying a huge light heavyweight in Forrest Griffin and Fedor isn’t a HUGE heavyweight, but would he be too big for Silva? And if that’s the case, I’d like to see Lyoto Machida take on Fedor.

GSP vs. B.J. Penn. Greasegate made enough waves to make this an interesting bout. Given a rematch, would Penn fair differently? We probably won’t see it because it would be almost like the UFC acknowledging that the greasing decided the outcome of the fight. But St. Pierre doesn’t have a plethora of enticing fights on the horizon so I’d definitely pay to see this one again.

Lyoto Machida vs. Anderson Silva. Another fight that will never happen, but it would be awesome to see two champions undefeated in the UFC square off.

My list is probably vastly different from most, so what fights would you add to the list? Of the big fights you want to see, which do you think are most likely?

Can you elaborate on why Machida versus A. Silva will never take place?

They are good friends and teammates and both said they would never take that fight (unless it's for $20 million or something that outrageous).

He can't comment on why Machida vs. A. Silva couldn't happen because he is a tulip. If both Silva and Machida win their next two title defenses respectively, they will indeed fight. Plain and simple, but tulip boy doesn't know any better.

Fedor ducking the UFC? It's funny how simple minded people can't see the business side of things with Fedor. A simple way to look at it is Fedor and his fight promotion company M-1 global is a poor man's version of Oscar De La Hoya and his incredibly rich Golden Boy Productions. Anyone care to remember how much money Oscar got from the Mayweather fight as both the Figther and the promoter? Something to the tune of $55 Million if I recall correctly.

Other fighters easily fall under the UFC umbrella and sign restrictive contracts because simply they do not have other options. Fedor obviously has other options and receives much better paydays then the UFC offers (note UFC 100 ammassed a near 120 Million profit, yet the UFC fighter salaries for all 22 figthers at that event received a share of only around 2.6 Million. Fedor has been between 2-5 Million in each of his last 5 fights. Does it make sense for him to make less and fight the same caliber opponents, and also ensure that his company goes Belly-up?

Anyone who now believes that Dana White and the UFC Upper Management offered Fedor over 5 Million dollars a fight is just as dumb and gullible as the tulip boy writer of this column. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

The UFC Brass's contention of no Top competition outside of the UFC doesn't hold water when Barnett, Overeem, Fedor, and Brett Rogers are all ranked as Top 10 Heavyweights in MMA. Werdum also ranks as a Top 15 fighter. If after Fedor's 3 fight contract with Strikeforce there are no new fighters in the Top 10, and the remaining top fighters are all truly only in the UFC...then yes, Fedor will need to fight in the UFC if he plans to continue MMA fights that hold any relevancy. As well, if Brock is still undefeated after Fedor's Strikeforce contract is up, then Fedor would likely be offerred even more money for that mega fight.

How is that Fedor ducking the UFC? For a man who has defeated everyone put in front of him, the contention that he is ducking an organization that hails a Top Heavyweight as inexperienced as Lesnar,..it truly is laughable. There are quite a few simpletons about...and guess what tulip? Yup, you'll all get your chance in a few years time to jump back on the Fedor Bandwagon...as the Fedor vs whoever is the UFC Champion fight will happen...just after a few more fights.

How about Anderson Silva v Fedor? Their walking around weights, according to reports, are actually closer than Fedor's and Brock's. Or Silva against Couture. Fun to watch Couture try to solve Silva's striking prowess. I'd like to see Silva jump the light heavies altogether (since we won't see him fight for the title) and use his speed to take on the heavyweights in the UFC.

i would like to see:

bret rogers vs brock lesnar

problably never happen...but should be a powerfull fight, they are both very strong.

Fedor vs. Silva ?? Fedor win easy... you say " Silva destroying a huge light heavyweight "
but fedor destroy all the big heavyweight...and like you say "Fedor isn’t a HUGE heavyweight"
i tinhk it just overrated

sorry for the bad english

GSP v Silva

Ideally, I'd like to see it at a catchweight, but I'm not sure Silva could cut much more weight than he does already. I think he's closer to being a natural light-heavyweight than a middleweight.

It's a tough fight for GSP even if he puts on the weight, but it's the best match-up in the sport right now. Two of the top contenders for the p4p title fighting.

I'd expect Silva to win, but GSP is a seriously talented and motivated individual, who will give himself a chance, and if Silva took him lightly, anything could happen.

Dana White and the UFC Brass do not care about Silva's and Machida's relationship. When those 2 guys continue to destroy everyone put infront of them, the UFC will inevitably make this pairing.
