One fan's perspective: Keys top Lynchburg on Saturday
As I've stressed since the beginning of O's on Deck last summer, I believe blogs are successful due to the interaction between the readers and the writer. Audience engagement is what makes the Internet an attractive place for people to spend their spare time.
Everyone that follows O's on Deck knows that I do my best to answer all questions, comments and concerns personally. It's also great when readers share their thoughts with each other below the entries.
A couple months ago, one of the O's on Deck readers -- Mark from Staunton, Va. -- wrote an e-mail to me asking if it would be OK for him to share his thoughts on an upcoming game that he wanted to attend with his son.
I appreciated the offer and told him that it would be a good idea to promote his recap on O's on Deck as the first installment of a regular feature with fan participation.
I think it would be valuable to post recaps from minor league games that Orioles fans attend, so feel free to e-mail your brief summaries to me if you'd be interested in doing that. My e-mail address is djones@baltimoresun.com.
Try to make the recaps clear and concise, and I will attempt to post them within 24 to 48 hours of receiving them. At the end of the summer, we'll look at the popularity of this feature and decide whether it's something to keep.
Mark attended last Saturday's game between the Keys and Lynchburg Hillcats at Harry Grove Stadium, and he e-mailed me the following account of the game.
Thanks again to Mark for the idea and taking the time to share his experiences.
