Today's game recaps -- September 7
None of the affiliates in the Orioles' minor league system qualified for the postseason, so this is the final edition of the game recaps for the 2009 season.
I'm going to take about a week off from blogging, but then I'll return to analyze the performance of the players in the organization, as well as updating the different winter leagues.
The Triple-A Norfolk Tides concluded the season by edging the Durham Bulls, and the Double-A Bowie Baysox fell to the Harrisburg Senators.
The Single-A Frederick Keys were blanked by the Wilmington Blue Rocks, and the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds were beaten by the Lakewood BlueClaws.

Recap: Center fielder Dave Krynzel was 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBIs as the Tides beat Durham, 4-3, in 10 innings.
Norfolk third baseman Brandon Snyder contributed a double and an RBI, and left fielder Jonathan Tucker was 1-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.
Tides starting pitcher Chris George allowed five hits in six scoreless innings.
Relief pitcher Jim Miller (4-4) retired all five batters he faced for the Tides, and right-hander Josh Perrault earned his second save since being promoted despite giving up one run and two hits in one inning.

Recap: Third baseman Josh Bell was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBIs as the Baysox lost, 4-2, to Harrisburg in a rain-shortened game at Prince George's Stadium.
Bowie center fielder Matt Angle was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and left fielder Tyler Henson added a single and two outfield assists.
Baysox starting pitcher Ryohei Tanaka (4-4) gave up four runs and seven hits in five innings. The 26-year-old right-hander struck out four batters and didn't walk anyone.
First baseman Brandon Waring was 1-for-3 for the Baysox.
Frederick Keys (A)
Score: Wilmington Blue Rocks 3, Frederick Keys 0 (Box score)
Recap: Center fielder Kyle Hudson was 2-for-4 with a stolen base in the Keys' 3-0 loss to Wilmington.
Frederick designated hitter Billy Rowell hit a double, and catcher Wally Crancer was 1-for-3 with a walk.
Rowell batted .194 (6-for-31) with 13 strikeouts in his final 10 games of the season, and the 20-year-old outfielder finished the year with a .225 batting average, nine home runs and 39 RBIs in 120 games.
Keys starting pitcher Sean Gleason (4-9) allowed three runs and seven hits in six innings. The 24-year-old right-hander struck out five batters and issued one walk.
Delmarva Shorebirds (A)
Score: Lakewood BlueClaws 7, Delmarva Shorebirds 2 (Box score)
Recap: Second baseman L.J. Hoes was 2-for-4 with an RBI, two stolen bases and one run scored in the Shorebirds' 7-2 loss to Lakewood at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

Shorebirds left fielder Brendan Monaghan was 1-for-3 with a double, and center fielder Ronnie Welty added an RBI.
First baseman Mike Flacco was 1-for-4 with a run scored for Delmarva.

Comments
I think if Billy Rowell can get his confidence back, he will be ok. He needs some early sucess next year. Way tooo early to give up on him, he is only 20

Dean,
Again, fantastic work this season tracking the Orioles' minor league affiliates. This was the first year that I really paid any legitimate attention, and your work made it so much easier. I made it out to ten minor league games this year between Bowie and Frederick to see the young arms and bats, and most of it was thanks to what I read in this space. Keep up the great work, and I hope that what you do is appreciated there at the Sun!

Dean,
Great job this year. Read your blog every day. I'm up here in Westchester County NY, the heart of Yankee-land (ugg) and getting info in the Orioles is hard to come by. So thanks again for all of your insight and analysis on the O's farm.

Hey Dean.
Great idea for the blog and even better execution. After reading your blog faithfully, I was inspired enough to go to Maryland (I live in Connecticut) and catch five minor league games in all four towns in a five-day span Aug. 31-Sept. 4. I was even lucky enough to catch an Orioles win Sept. 5 with Matusz and Reimold both doing well. As Orioles management finally pays attention to the farm system, your blog is essential reading. Keep up the good work.

I have made your blog a must read through the baseball season. It really gives a window into the the efforts the O's brass have made to turn the O's around. For the 1st time in years there appears to be some outstanding talent and energy in the farm system. Thanks so much for all the valuable input.

What was the combined record of all of the Orioles minor league teams this year, and where would this rank among major league organizations? Saw where the White Sox farm teams were a collective 78 games over .500 and ranked third.
