Today's game recaps -- August 10

The Triple-A Norfolk Tides fell to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, and the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds lost to the Charleston RiverDogs.

The Rookie-level GCL Orioles were edged by the GCL Rays, and the game between the Rookie-level Bluefield Orioles and the Pulaski Mariners was suspended.

The Double-A Bowie Baysox, Single-A Frederick Keys and short-season Single-A Aberdeen IronBirds were idle.

Norfolk Tides (AAA)

Score: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees 6, Norfolk Tides 1 (Box score)

Recap: Second baseman Justin Turner collected a double, two singles and an RBI as the Tides lost, 6-1, to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at Harbor Park.

Norfolk third baseman Melvin Dorta, catcher Guillermo Rodriguez and left fielder Freddy Guzman each added a single, while center fielder Joey Gathright contributed a stolen base and a run scored.

Tides starting pitcher Andy Mitchell (9-4) gave up five runs (four earned) and five hits in 5 2/3 innings. The 30-year-old right-hander collected seven strikeouts and walked five batters.

Delmarva Shorebirds (A)

Score: Charleston RiverDogs 6, Delmarva Shorebirds 3 (Box score)

Recap: First baseman Joe Mahoney was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in the Shorebirds' 6-3 loss to Charleston.

Delmarva right fielder Ronnie Welty contributed two hits, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored, while designated hitter Elvin Polanco added a sacrifice fly.

Shorebirds starting pitcher Oliver Drake (7-7) allowed five runs and 10 hits in six innings. The 22-year-old right-hander struck out five batters and issued two walks.

Bluefield Orioles (Rookie)

The Orioles were losing, 3-0, to Pulaski in the top of the fourth inning when the game was suspended.

GCL Orioles (Rookie)

Score: GCL Rays 4, GCL Orioles 3 (Box score)

Recap: First baseman David Anderson was 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored, but the Orioles suffered a 4-3 loss to the Rays.

Orioles left fielder David Rivera and shortstop Anyi Tejeda each contributed two hits and a run scored, while second baseman Moises Ciriaco was 2-for-4.

Starting pitcher Zachary Petersime gave up four runs, four hits and three walks in four innings for the Orioles, and relief pitcher Tony Butler allowed one hit in one scoreless inning during his latest injury rehabilitation appearance.
