Live: Baysox vs. Connecticut -- Spoke too soon
It's fitting that I mentioned everything was going normally in my previous post. As soon as I said that, Baysox starting pitcher Brian Matusz uncharacteristically lost the strike zone to begin the top of the fourth inning.
The 22-year-old left-hander threw six consecutive balls, including a leadoff walk to Defenders first baseman Brett Pill before coming back to strike out right fielder Eddy Martinez-Esteve for the first out. Matusz loaded the bases with three walks in the inning, but he was able to escape without allowing a run.
The Baysox also loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth with three walks. Bowie scored twice in the inning to take a 2-0 lead, but the Baysox are still searching for their first hit.
