Four Baysox players on Eastern League All-Star team

Four members of the Double-A Bowie Baysox were selected to represent the team in the 2009 Eastern League All-Star Game, the league announced today.

Bowie second baseman Miguel Abreu, outfielder Jonathan Tucker, as well as relief pitchers Josh Perrault and Ryan Ouellette will participate in the game on July 15 at 7:05 p.m. in Trenton, N.J.

The Akron Aeros and Erie SeaWolves each will send five players to Trenton to join the Baysox representatives on the Southern Division team. The Reading Phillies have four players on the team, and the Harrisburg Senators and Altoona Curve are each represented by three players.

Each division's roster in the All-Star Game has 24 players, and every team has at least three representatives. At least one position player and one pitcher from each team in the league were chosen by fans through online and stadium balloting, while the rest of the players were picked through voting by league media, managers and officials.

Abreu is batting a team-high .296 this season, and he also leads the Baysox in hits (85), doubles (18), RBIs (25) and games played (76). Tucker is third in the Eastern League with 19 stolen bases in 2009, and he leads the team with 40 runs scored.

Perrault, who leads the Baysox in appearances, has converted 13 out of 16 saves this season. He is first on the Baysox with 38 strikeouts in 37 innings. Ouellette was promoted from Single-A Frederick in the middle of May, and he is 3-1 with one save and a 2.05 ERA in 22 innings with the Baysox.

All-Star Game festivities will also include an autograph session, home run derby and post-game fireworks.

a weary bergesen to start the nineth is better to try than anyone else... also, he's 23, very capable of throwing more than 106 pitches
