Today's game previews -- June 6

After a rainout, the Triple-A Norfolk Tides return to action against the Toledo Mud Hens at Harbor Park.

The Double-A Bowie Baysox hope to snap their scoreless streak against the Erie SeaWolves, and the Single-A Frederick Keys play the Salem Red Sox.

The Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds host the Lakewood BlueClaws in a doubleheader at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

Norfolk Tides (AAA)

Opponent

Toledo Mud Hens (7:15 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Norfolk: Radhames Liz (0-1, 6.17 ERA)
Toledo: Eddie Bonine (0-3, 4.08 ERA)

Notes

* Liz is scheduled to make his third start of the season for the Tides. The 25-year-old right-hander gave up seven runs and seven hits in 2 1/3 innings during Norfolk's 16-3 loss to the Columbus Clippers on June 1. His ERA in 12 appearances for the Tides is 6.17, which is more than 10 times better than his ERA in two games with the Orioles this season (67.50).

* Norfolk (35-18) holds a one-game lead over the Durham Bulls (35-20) in the International League South Division. Toledo (22-33) is in last place in the West Division, trailing the first-place Columbus Clippers (27-28) by five games.

Bowie Baysox (AA)

Opponent

Erie SeaWolves (7:05 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Bowie: John Mariotti (0-3, 3.90 ERA)
Erie: Pat Stanley (0-0, 2.38 ERA)

Notes

* Mariotti has turned things around since being promoted from Frederick, but he is still searching for his first Double-A victory. The 24-year-old right-hander struggled in his first two starts with the Baysox -- allowing nine earned runs in 9 1/3 innings -- but he has only given up three earned runs in 18 1/3 innings during his past three games.

* The Baysox have failed to score in four of their past six games, including three straight. Four consecutive losses have dropped Bowie (26-27) below the .500 mark. The Baysox trail the first-place Akron Aeros (34-19) by eight games in the Eastern League Southern Division, while Erie (31-22) is tied for second place. The SeaWolves and Reading Phillies (31-22) are three games behind Akron.

Frederick Keys (A)

Opponent

Salem Red Sox (6 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Frederick: Pedro Beato (3-4, 4.50 ERA)
Salem: Dave McKae (1-2, 4.70 ERA)

Notes

* Beato allowed five runs and nine hits in six innings against the Lynchburg Hillcats during his last start on June 1. The 22-year-old right-hander struck out seven batters and issued two walks in the Keys' 5-3 loss. Beato surrendered seven home runs in his first 10 starts, which is tied for fourth-most in the Carolina League.

* With five straight losses, the Keys (25-30) dropped to 11 1/2 games behind the first-place Lynchburg Hillcats (35-17) in the Carolina League Northern Division. Frederick is in last place in the division. Salem (25-30) is in second place in the Southern Division, and the Red Sox trail the division-leading Winston-Salem Dash (28-25) by four games.

Delmarva Shorebirds (A)

Opponent

Doubleheader vs. Lakewood BlueClaws (4:05 p.m.)

Game 1: Probable pitchers

Delmarva: Oliver Drake (1-2, 2.78 ERA)
Lakewood: Heitor Correa (2-1, 2.50 ERA)

Game 2: Probable pitchers

Delmarva: Nathan Moreau (1-1, 5.68 ERA)
Lakewood: Jesus Sanchez (1-4, 5.20 ERA)

Notes

* Drake is tentatively scheduled to start the first game for the Shorebirds, and Moreau would be in line to pitch the nightcap. Delmarva, however, hasn't announced which two pitchers will be throwing, so that could change. For now, I'll list Drake and Moreau as the starters, but the Shorebirds could choose to use a relief pitcher during one of the two games.

* The Shorebirds are in second place in the South Atlantic League Northern Division with a 27-22 record. They trail the division-leading BlueClaws (31-21) by 2 1/2 games.
