Today's game previews -- June 26

The Triple-A Norfolk Tides conclude their homestand tonight against the Pawtucket Red Sox at Harbor Park, while the Double-A Bowie Baysox travel to play the Altoona Curve.

The Single-A Frederick Keys host the Winston-Salem Dash at Harry Grove Stadium, and the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds meet the Lakewood BlueClaws on the road.

The short-season Single-A Aberdeen IronBirds face the Brooklyn Cyclones at Ripken Stadium.

Norfolk Tides (AAA)

Opponent

Pawtucket Red Sox (7:15 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Norfolk: Jake Arrieta (0-2, 4.63 ERA)
Pawtucket: Kris Johnson (3-6, 6.40 ERA)

Notes

* Despite losing eight of their past 10 games, the Tides (40-32) are still in first place in the International League South Division. They lead the Gwinnett Braves (41-34) by 1/2 game, and the Durham Bulls (40-34) are one game behind. Pawtucket (39-33) is in third place in the North Division, trailing the first-place Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (41-30) by 2 1/2 games.

Bowie Baysox (AA)

Opponent

at Altoona Curve (7:05 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Bowie: John Mariotti (2-5, 2.87 ERA)
Altoona: Daniel Moskos (4-6, 4.01 ERA)

Notes

* The Baysox (38-33) are in fourth place in the Eastern League Southern Division, and they trail the first-place Akron Aeros (48-23) by 10 games. Bowie is two games behind the Erie SeaWolves and Reading Phillies (both teams are 40-31) for a playoff berth. Altoona (26-46) is in last place in the division, and the Curve is 22 1/2 games behind Akron.

Frederick Keys (A)

Opponent

Winston-Salem Dash (7 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Frederick: Sean Gleason (0-2, 4.82 ERA)
Winston-Salem: Jacob Rasner (1-0, 3.38 ERA)

Notes

* With last night's victory over Winston-Salem, the Keys started the second half with a 1-0 record. Frederick is currently tied with the Potomac Nationals for first place in the Carolina League Northern Division for the second half, and Winston-Salem is tied for last place in the Southern Division. Winston-Salem, however, won the first half in its division, so the Dash has already clinched a spot in the playoffs.

Delmarva Shorebirds (A)

Opponent

at Lakewood BlueClaws (7:05 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Delmarva: Nathan Moreau (1-2, 4.55 ERA)
Lakewood: Jesus Sanchez (3-4, 4.43 ERA)

Notes

* The Shorebirds (1-0) currently sit in a four-way tie for first place in the South Atlantic League Northern Division. Lakewood (0-1) is tied for last place, but the BlueClaws won the division during the first half.

Aberdeen IronBirds (A)

Opponent

Brooklyn Cyclones (7:05 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Aberdeen: Brandon Erbe (0-0, 18.00 ERA)
Brooklyn: Mark Cohoon (1-0, 3.60 ERA)

Notes

* After last night's loss, the IronBirds dropped to 3-3 so far this season. Aberdeen is tied for second place in the New York-Penn League McNamara Division, and the IronBirds trail first-place Brooklyn (5-1) by two games. The Hudson Valley Renegades are also 3-3.

What's the plan tonight for Erbe?
Does he have a pitch count or innings goal?

Mahoney stole #19 last night. 19-0. Wow!

Me again. My [nephew in law] is 0 for 4 at Bluefield. He is switching [ I think ] with the other shortstop. He didn't strike out. If you get down there, tell him Dana's dad [Glenn] blogs with you. Thank's DJ Jr. Have a nice week end.
