Bumbry, IronBirds to visit kids of military personnel
Aberdeen IronBirds outfielder Steve Bumbry and other players will make a trip to Rock State Park on Wednesday to visit a camp for the children of military personnel, the team announced today.
Al Bumbry, a former Orioles outfielder and Steve's father, was one of only six Vietnam veterans to play in the major leagues, according to the IronBirds.
Children ages 7 to 12 with parents on deployment in the National Guard or U.S. Army, as well as kids with parents who are scheduled to be deployed, are eligible to attend the camp.
Approximately 70 children attend the camp, and the IronBirds will be visiting from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Please keep in mind that this is a private event. The IronBirds will make other public appearances in the future, so remember to check out the team's Web site for news and information.
