Baysox set to honor the Negro League
The Double-A Bowie Baysox plan to commemorate the Negro League with the eighth annual tribute night tomorrow at Prince George's Stadium.
Former Negro League players will be in attendance for the game against the New Britain Rock Cats, which is scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m.
"These players never received the credit they deserved in their playing days," Baysox assistant general manager Phil Wrye said in a statement. "It's great that we get the opportunity to honor them at Prince George's Stadium."
Also, the first 1,250 fans who are at least 3 years old will receive a Homestead Grays replica hat, and there will be an on-field ceremony to honor former Negro League players before the game.
The Baysox will be wearing nine different replica Negro League jerseys, and a fireworks display will take place following the conclusion of the matchup between Bowie and New Britain.
