Today's game recaps -- April 26
The Triple-A Norfolk Tides and Double-A Bowie Baysox each picked up shutout victories today, while the Single-A Frederick Keys pounded the Potomac Nationals.
Also, prior to today's game, Frederick announced a few roster moves.
The Keys placed infielder Jason White on the disabled list with an injured finger. The team also put right-hander Jake Renshaw on the disabled list, retroactive to April 24, with an elbow injury.
In order to replace the two players on Frederick's roster, left-hander Jake Stevens and infielder Robert Stevens were promoted from extended spring training.
Norfolk Tides (AAA)
Score: Norfolk Tides 7, Durham Bulls 0 (Box score)
Recap: It's going to be an exciting offense to watch this season in Norfolk.
For the second time this month, the Tides didn't allow Durham starting pitcher David Price (1-2) to complete four innings. The 23-year-old left-hander gave up three runs and four hits in 3 1/3 innings today. He struck out five batters and issued four walks.
Left fielder Nolan Reimold was 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Norfolk's 7-0 victory, including one against Price in the second inning. Norfolk third baseman Scott Moore was 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Center fielder Justin Christian collected two hits and an RBI for the Tides, while designated hitter Matt Wieters was 1-for-3 with an RBI double.
Five Norfolk pitchers combined to throw a three-hit shutout.
Jason Berken started the game for the Tides, and he didn't allow any hits in three innings before getting hurt. According to the team, it's a minor groin injury.
Norfolk relief pitcher Andy Mitchell (2-0) gave up three hits in 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Kam Mickolio pitched 1 1/3 innings, while Alberto Castillo and Jim Miller each tossed one scoreless frame.
Bowie Baysox (AA)
Score: Bowie Baysox 8, Reading Phillies 0 (Box score)
Recap: Due to last week's rainouts, the Baysox juggled the rotation and started Jake Arrieta (2-0) in today's game instead of Sean Gleason. Arrieta pitched six scoreless innings in Bowie's 8-0 victory over Reading. The 23-year-old right-hander gave up two hits and collected six strikeouts.
As a team, the Baysox collected 16 hits in the win.
Right fielder Ambiorix Concepcion and second baseman Miguel Abreu were each 3-for-5 for Bowie. Abreu also had an RBI and a run scored.
Baysox first baseman Brandon Snyder collected two doubles and an RBI, while third baseman Melvin Dorta had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored. Outfielder Jonathan Tucker scored three runs for Bowie.
Jim Hoey tossed two innings for the Baysox, and Wilfrido Perez added one scoreless frame.
Frederick Keys (A)
Score: Frederick Keys 13, Potomac Nationals 7 (Box score)
Recap: If you like offense, it was a great day to watch the Keys against Potomac at Harry Grove Stadium.
If you hate sloppy defense, it was a terrible day to watch the same game.
The Keys overcame six errors, including four by shortstop Pedro Florimon Jr. to outlast Potomac, 13-7. The Nationals committed four defensive miscues in the game, but the two teams combined for seven home runs.
Designated hitter Chris Vinyard led the Keys' offense with two home runs and three RBIs. Frederick left fielder David Cash, right fielder Billy Rowell and first baseman Brandon Waring each had three hits.
Vinyard, Waring and Florimon each hit a home run in the sixth inning against Potomac relief pitcher Dan Leatherman, who is a Frederick County native.
Keys starting pitcher Pedro Beato (1-2) earned his first victory of the season after giving up four runs (three earned) and five hits in five innings. The 22-year-old right-hander struck out eight batters, but he also surrendered three home runs.
Florimon's four errors give him eight for the season, while Keys third baseman Tyler Henson committed his ninth defensive miscue in the game. Rowell also made an error in the game, but his batting average climbed to .274 with the three-hit performance.

There's some good stuffin the drinking water for the O's minor leaguers this year.The two biggest surprises to be is the way Snyder and Reimold have been raking.Even aside from them, there seems to be quite a few position players stepping up this year,which is rare in the O's system
David Price is messing up a chance to be brought back up. Andy Sonnistine is struggling for the Rays.

Send Pie down to AAA and Reimold up to the bigs. He's earned it and show these guys what hard work means.

Dean, it is getting hard to watch this Pie project unfold while Reimold is killing the ball right now.
