Today's game recaps -- April 15
The Triple-A Norfolk Tides and Single-A Frederick Keys parlayed strong pitching performances into victories, while the Double-A Bowie Baysox used a well-rounded game to sweep the Erie SeaWolves.
The game between the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds and Hagerstown Suns was rained out. The Shorebirds' home opener is set for Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
Norfolk Tides (AAA)
Score: Norfolk Tides 3, Charlotte Knights 2 (Box score)
Recap: Tides starting pitcher Brad Bergesen (1-1) earned his first win of the season, allowing two runs and two hits in six innings. The 23-year-old right-hander struck out three hitters, issued two walks and hit two batters.
Third baseman Scott Moore led the Tides with three hits, including a two-run home run in the seventh inning. Norfolk center fielder Justin Christian was 2-for-5 with a double, and second baseman Justin Turner added two hits.
Andy Mitchell tossed two scoreless innings in relief for Norfolk, and Bob McCrory pitched a perfect ninth to record his first save of the season.
According to O's on Deck reader Brett, who attended the game in Charlotte, Bergesen pitched well for the majority of the outing. Brett, however, mentioned that several batters hit the ball hard against Bergesen. Still, the Tides starter was able to pitch out of trouble after giving up two runs in the fourth inning.

Bowie Baysox (AA)
Score: Bowie Baysox 9, Erie SeaWolves 3 (Box score)
Recap: The bats are alive for Bowie.
The Baysox smacked 13 hits to cruise to a 9-3 victory over Erie. With the win, Bowie swept the previously unbeaten SeaWolves in the three-game series.
Baysox starting pitcher Jake Arrieta (1-0) earned his first victory of the season, giving up two runs (one earned) and seven hits in five innings. The 23-year-old right-hander struck out four hitters and issued three walks.
Center fielder Dave Krynzel led the Baysox offensively. The 27-year-old outfielder was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Second baseman Paco Figueroa, catcher Adam Donachie and shortstop Robert Valido each added two hits for Bowie.
Baltimore native Jon Kibler (0-1) took the loss for Erie after allowing six runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. Baysox reliever Jim Hoey tossed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
Frederick Keys (A)
Score: Frederick Keys 3, Myrtle Beach Pelicans 2 (Box score)
Recap: Right fielder Billy Rowell hit his first home run of the season to lift the Keys to a 3-2 victory over Myrtle Beach.
The 20-year-old outfielder was 1-for-2 with two walks in Frederick's win. Rowell is now hitting .269 (7-for-26) with one home run and four RBIs so far this season.
Frederick third baseman Tyler Henson added an RBI double, and designated hitter Chris Vinyard picked up an RBI on a bases-loaded walk.
Keys starting pitcher Pedro Beato allowed two runs (one earned) and five hits in four innings, but he didn't factor in the decision. The 22-year-old right-hander surrendered two home runs and issued four walks.
Relief pitcher Jake Renshaw (1-0) picked up the victory after throwing two scoreless innings for Frederick. Luis Lebron collected his first save of the season for the Keys after pitching two scoreless innings.
Delmarva Shorebirds (A)
The game between the Shorebirds and Hagerstown Suns was postponed due to rain.

Hard to believe Rowell is only 20,seems like he's been around forever. Dean, I have seen anything on roster moves to Norfolk to replace the O's pitchers that have been called up. Have you heard anything?

Lou Montanez is batting .462 with 2 doubles in 6 games for Norfolk. That .462 average is 4th in the International League.
Nolan Reimold is batting .400 in 6 games with 2 HR's at Norfolk, one of those being a monster shot off of Tampa Bay's David Price. Reimolds 2 HR's are tied for 3rd in the International League while his .400 avg is 8th.
Matt Wieters after starting the season 0 for 7 has gone 4 for 11 with 2 walks.
