A little more from Simms on Ravens

A few items that didn't make it into the somewhat truncated Friday column:

*There was more that Phil Simms had to say about the Ravens-Dolphins game: "Also in Baltimore’s favor, they are so versatile on defense that even though you saw something the first time you played them, they may decide to give you something completely different. It is truly a guessing game. Can you have success against them? Yes, you can. You can make plays against their defense. Most importantly, you must be well in tune and accept the fact that there will be a lot of bad plays. Sometimes, just getting sacked or throwing it away and punting the football are all good options vs. this Ravens defense."

*Too bad there was no snow during yesterday’s NHL Winter Classic from Chicago’s Wrigley Field — as there was last year in Buffalo — however, we did get The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore reporting from among the fans while sporting an NBC logo on his shaved head.

*TNT NBA commentator Charles Barkley was charged with drunken driving after being arrested early Wednesday morning in Arizona. Thesmokinggun.com has a copy (contains some risque language) of the police report as well as the mug shot, on which Barkley looks like he needs a shave but doesn’t approach anything close to Nick Nolte-ian scariness. In the report, an officer said Barkley told him he rolled through a stop sign because he was in a hurry to pick up a woman whose adeptness at a particular sexual act ranked as the best he ever had experienced. And this is why the Internet was invented.

Comments

Barkley must have been very impressed by the woman's "skills." Maybe he could share her name, too.
Some might find the whole event funny, and there is some humor here.
But for him to be drinking and driving -- he knows better!!! Luckily, no one was injured. The cops who caught him will have a story to tell their friends for a long time.

About Ray Frager
Ray Frager joined The Baltimore Sun’s sports department in 1985 and has been an assistant sports editor for more than 15 years. This is his second stint writing a sports media column for The Baltimore Sun. Most sequels aren't as good as the original, but then, the original wasn't all that great either.

Frager, born in 1957, grew up in northern Delaware (graduating from a high school that since has shut down) and received his bachelor's degree in journalism from Rider College in Lawrenceville, N.J. He worked as a reporter and copy editor at The Trenton Times and The Dallas Morning News before coming to Baltimore.

Surprisingly, if you look at his accompanying photo, Frager is married and has a son and daughter. He enjoys playing basketball and has organized pickup games among members of The Baltimore Sun staff for many years, which means they don't get too mad at him for shooting way too much.

He has a good beat and is easy to dance to. I'd give him an 85.
