I don't know who I feel more sorry for: those stations' advertising salespeople or their listeners.

What stinks is WICO in Salisbury only does weekend games, then only when they don't conflict with other sports they broadcast. Salisbury deserves a full-time affiliate! Thank God for XM...

Sorry, but I was driving back to Baltimore from Virginia Monday afternoon. I approached the DC area around 3:45, and tuned into WTEM-980 in DC to listen to the game. But the game wasn't on. Instead it was regular sports talk.

I tried to tune into 105.7, but you can't really get an audible signal until you approach Howard County in I-95.

I kept tuning back to 980, but the game wasn't being broadcast. Are you sure they are still an affilliate? Do the O's even have a DC affillaite anymore?

Monday's game was aired on sister station WTNT/570 in D.C. Airings there are sometimes bumped to 570 or WWRC/1260 by schedule conflicts.

FYI, there's a report on the DCRTV.com mailbag that Frederick's WFMD/930 dropped the Orioles, don't know if the report is true or not.

Yeah, WFMD would rather have Michael Savage on at night instead of the Orioles. That's how bad things have gotten.

About Ray Frager
Ray Frager joined The Baltimore Sun’s sports department in 1985 and has been an assistant sports editor for more than 15 years. This is his second stint writing a sports media column for The Baltimore Sun. Most sequels aren't as good as the original, but then, the original wasn't all that great either.

Frager, born in 1957, grew up in northern Delaware (graduating from a high school that since has shut down) and received his bachelor's degree in journalism from Rider College in Lawrenceville, N.J. He worked as a reporter and copy editor at The Trenton Times and The Dallas Morning News before coming to Baltimore.

Surprisingly, if you look at his accompanying photo, Frager is married and has a son and daughter. He enjoys playing basketball and has organized pickup games among members of The Baltimore Sun staff for many years, which means they don't get too mad at him for shooting way too much.

He has a good beat and is easy to dance to. I'd give him an 85.
