Big lacrosse matchups this weekend

Baltimore is set for another great lacrosse weekend. I'll be at the UNC-Lehigh game at St. Paul's on Saturday. Most of the lacrosse world will be focused on seventh-ranked Maryland vs. No. 12 Duke and third-ranked Johns Hopkins vs. No. 11 Princeton at the Face-Off Classic Saturday at M&T Stadium. UMBC has a hard game against Colgate on Saturday. McDaniel hosts Moravian and Salisbury hosts Widener. Stevenson, Towson, Navy and Loyola are all on the road.

On the women's side, Duke is at Maryland, Hopkins is at Princeton, Navy's at Longwood and Loyola is off. Denver is at Georgetown and Towson is at Mount St. Mary's on Sunday.

The game of the week is actually Friday night when Virginia travels to Syracuse to battle for No. 1. I am predicting that the UMBC-Colgate game will be more entertaining than both Face-Off Classic games. I think Hopkins and Maryland will please the home fans, and that if either Princeton or Duke win, a great upset will have been witnessed.

Have fun at the games!
