Lacrosse growth evident in recent golf event

I watched the Del Webb Father/Son Challenge from ChampionsGate Golf Club in Orlando this weekend on television. While I was watching, I wasn’t surprised that a couple of the youngsters playing in the contest with their famous fathers were not golf players first, but they were lacrosse nuts.

Lee Trevino’s son, Daniel, is a player for St. Mark’s School in Dallas. St. Mark’s is a top Texas lacrosse program and Daniel, a freshman this year, must be pretty good to have made the varsity team.

His dad was one of the best golfers in the country in his prime, but the 68-year-old says he plays a limited number of events these days. “I can't play in the summer," Trevino said. "My son plays lacrosse and travels over the summer, so I go with him."

The game is growing!
