Lacrosse Christmas ornament
So, in these times of economic recession, wouldn't it be nice to make a gift for grandma's tree for no money at all? And doesn't Grandma love it anyway when her grandkids make her something instead of giving her a lame Amazon.com gift card? Well, here's a little E-Lacrosse Christmas tip for our young lacrosse players out there.
Every mesh lacrosse stick has a little extra mesh at the bottom of the head and most of us just cut a few diamonds off of the bottom before we use the head anyway. So now you'll have something to do with that extra sliver of mesh too.

Just cut away a diamond or two so that you have a strip about an inch and a half to two inches wide, whatever you don't need on the pocket. Don't cut too much so that you ruin the pocket. If you do you'll spend $30 on this instead of nothing.
Once you have your strip of mesh, turn it so it forms a circle. Cut away some at the end if it's too bulky but form a circle that looks like a snowflake. Make the loose ends face the outer part of the circle so it looks like a snowflake and not some geometrical design. Then take some white thread and a needle and run the thread through the two ends so the circle stays together. This is not sewing. It should take about five to ten inches of thread and about five minutes to do.

Your snowflake will want to bulge instead of laying flat, so press it flat on a sidewalk or someplace flat outside and spray it with some of Mom's hairspray. Let it dry flat and then flip it and spray it again. Put a little bow on it if you like with some Christmas ribbon and add a metal ornament hanger, which you probably have plenty of in your Christmas tree ornament box.
And there you have it! You've made a lacrosse Christmas ornament for that someone special, even if that ends up being your own tree. You will notice that just like snowflakes, none of these ornaments are exactly the same. If you've got a lot of old sticks and mesh pieces lying around, you can make many different sizes and shapes and do a whole lacrosse Christmas tree.
Have fun and Merry Christmas!
