Stevenson's Cantabene hasn't heard from Maryland
Despite rumors to the contrary, Stevenson coach Paul Cantabene has not been contracted by University of Maryland officials for the vacant Terrapins job.
Every year, Cantabene appears to be on a lot of short lists for possible replacements because of his success with the Mustangs, but he hasn't heard a thing from Maryland or athletic director Debbie Yow.

Has Debbie even gone through the optics of naming her national "search committee"? Since it is pretty clear Gene Corrigan's kid isn't returning to the ACC via College Park but more likely via Charlottesville, Coach C should be getting a call?

Gait, Corrigan, Tambroni, and Pressler have all either turned MD down, or let it be known that they are not interested. It seems that the MD job is not as appealing as Yow thought. Is it that they think the job carries unrealistic expecations and too little job security?
The next tier of candidates probably includes Cantebene, Albany's Marr, or someone's assistant. It sounds like no one from that list has even been contacted. Honestly though, why would any of them leave their current job to come to a job that might not be their's if they don't make it to Memorial Day Weekend.
I know Cottle did not produce lately in late May, but maybe Yow should have lined someone else up before accepting (or forcing) Cottle's resignation. I just can't see a better coach than Cottle available that wants the job. Maybe Debbie should have waited on getting rid of Cottle until after she saw how far Notre Dame went. Being ousted by a team that took Duke to OT on Memorial Day doesn't look as bad as it did before the Final Four. Now it looks as though Debbie is going to have a hard time finding someone that wants to coach the Terps. Maybe it's time to swallow the pride and admit that Cottle was your best option.
