Ex-Terps coach Cottle to interview at Penn State
Former University of Maryland coach lacrosse coach Dave Cottle is expected to interview for the vacant head coaching job at Penn State this week, and the interview could take place either late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.
Cottle resigned last Sunday after his No. 3 seeded Terps were upset by unseeded Notre Dame in the NCAA Division I quarterfinals.
One of the sport's all-time top coaches, Cottle would be a perfect fit for the Nittany Lions if they are serious about upgrading their program and becoming a contender.
If the Nittany Lions are serious about the commitment, Cottle might take the job. If not, he might retire from coaching and move on to other business endeavors. Cottle recently completed his 29th season as a head coach, his ninth at Maryland.

I know Cottle has a lot of fans, but I'm not one of them for a lot of reasons and my kid wants to go to Penn State. All I can say to the powers that be in State College; "Please do not hire Cottle!" There's got to be a better candidate out there.

Mark-if Cottle gets the job and your son really wanted to play at Penn State, you may have just lost him his chance.Be careful how you speak--the lax world is very small.

I have no horse in this race as I neither have a kid who plays lacrosse nor am I PSU alum, but what kind of idiot makes a comment like that and leaves his full name (mark Ryan).
Wow....then again, your kid probably wouldn't make a D3 or JUCO squad if the apple didn't fall too far....
Dave is a proven winner at the D1 level. PSU would be fortunate to land such a coach.

Anything would be an upgrade after the disaster that was the 2010 lacrosse season at Penn State.

Dave Cottle's brand of stall lacrosse is over....you need to get about 5 Canadiens to do the scoring and 10 Americans to 'do the wash.'
Not sure Dave can make the adjustment.........Seaman couldn't and Tierney moved to a team that has Canadiens already.
Dave's MO can't win any big games.....never could.

Sil- How many Canadians did Duke have on the field in the Championship game? What about ND? Answer- zero. I guess that theory gets shot down pretty easily

Good point Terp man........I guess I am looking at more than one year of teams......throughout the last 40 years since Al Rimmer took Cornell to NCAA Champ some teams have brought in Canadiens and have won.......Cottle, Seaman and Tierney have not.........and that is the wave of the near future........
Could you ever imagine a Long Island team (Stonybrook) being cheered on on LI....and the LI players were the caddies for the Canadiens.....we saw that this year and that is a big change...and it will keep coming.
We have let the game morph to Box on a Field.....it is our own US fault.

I'd like to see Towson go after Cottle (at least PSU won't get him when they enter the CAA next season). This way he'll be a coach of the Tigers that plays the Terps and he can show the Terps what he's really made of.

Have a great deal of respect for Coach Cottle. The next Coach will get a good team on with great incoming recruits.
