Mount de Sales Friendship Lacrosse Tourney scheduled
The Mount de Sales Academy’s 24th Annual Friendship Lacrosse Tournament will take place April 16.
Here is what Mount de Sales varsity coach Abree Johnson has to say about it:
“First held in 1987, the Friendship Tournament was originally meant to be a means of bringing together talented local athletes whose teams would otherwise not play against each other during the regular season. It was also a means of gathering and sharing a common passion while acknowledging all that for which we are blessed and grateful.
This year we will hold the event at Western Regional Park in Howard County. MDSA has partnered with Howard County Rec. & Park to provide a free clinic to lacrosse players aged 5-8 prior to the official contests (Noon-2pm). MDSA players will focus on teaching the fundamentals as well as inspiring the young athletes to pursue their dreams.
The games will run on 2 turf fields from 2:30pm-9pm; 10 different school will be in attendance with teams traveling from as far as Pennsylvania. as far as PA.
There will be no trophy format and teams were not charged to participate. The MDSA lacrosse team did multiple fundraisers to cover the costs of such an event.
We are very pleased and proud of the girls for giving back such a gracious amount to the community.”
