Mellerson takes over as Woodlawn football coach

DaVaughn Mellerson, a Mount St. Joseph graduate who played football at Wake Forest, has been hired as the new varsity football coach at Woodlawn.

Mellerson had been the defensive coordinator at Milford Mill and is the track and field coach at Carver A&T.

He played football at Wake Forest and was also on the track team from 1996 to 2001. Since he graduated, Mellerson has been coaching football and/or track in the Baltimore area. He was the JV defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Mount St. Joseph from 2004 to 2009.

“I am excited and looking forward to making Woodlawn a perennial powerhouse again," Mellerson said in a new release. "I am more excited about building the character of our student-athletes and preparing them for life beyond the athletic arena.”
