Field for President's Cup baseball tournament set

The field for the President’s Cup Baseball tournament between private schools and city public schools is set.

Dunbar, Douglass and Mervo will join Gilman, Friends School, Boys’ Latin, St. Frances and Mount St. Joseph in the competition that begins Saturday at noon at the Johns Hopkins University field and the diamond at Medfield Heights Elementary.

Mount St. Joseph will face St. Frances at noon at Medfield Heights, while Friends will meet Dunbar at Hopkins. At 3:30 p.m., Gilman will play Douglass at 3:30 p.m. at Medfield and Boys’ Latin will go against Mervo at the same time at Hopkins.

The winners will advance to the semifinals at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 16, at Mount Saint Joseph and Swan Park and the winners of those two games will play for the championship at 1 p.m. at Camden Yards.

The tournament is designed to bring together groups of high school students from different backgrounds that normally would not compete with one another.
