Chesapeake-AA grad Gibson leading the Vols

Former Chesapeake-AA High softball standout Lauren Gibson, a two-time All-Metro Player of the Year, is enjoying a stellar sophomore season playing second base for the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers.

In 40 starts, Gibson leads the Vols (34-6) in batting with a .443 average, and also has 43 RBIs and 27 runs scored. Included in her 51 hits are nine doubles, two triples and three home runs for a .635 slugging percentage.

Gibson was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Freshman Team last year.
