Patterson's Carr set to reach milestone ... in a hurry

As quick as he is getting to the basket, Patterson sophomore guard Aquille Carr is taking a fast track to the 1,000-point plateau.

Already with 935 points in 1 1/2 seasons, Carr should surpass 1,000 points this week. About the only thing that may stop him is possible inclement weather. The No. 1 Clippers (13-1) are set to host Poly today at 5:15 p.m., will take on No. 6 Dunbar at Morgan State tomorrow night at 7, and conclude their week on Thursday with a visit from Carver at 5:15.

Should Carr continue his season's average of 32.2 points per game, he will become one of the quickest to reach 1,000 career points ever in the Baltimore area.

In earning first-team All-Metro honors last year as a freshman, Carr averaged 25-plus points per game.
