D.C. Showcase basketball features area standouts

The Baltimore area will be well represented with 10 seniors participating in the 2011 Elite Showcase Basketball Classic, which features boys and girls North-South all-star games set for Sunday March 20 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

Representing the North squad in the boys' game are Nick Faust (City, Maryland), Greg Lewis (St. Frances, Rutgers), Ryan McTavish (South Carroll, Presbyterian), and former Lake Clifton standout Durand Johnson (Brewster Academy, N.H., Pittsburgh), while Greg Whittington (Oakland Mills, undecided) will dress for the South team.

In the girls' game, Achiri Ade (Seton Keough, James Madison) and Ciara Webb (Patterson, Towson) will play for the North with Maggie Morrison (Spalding, Vanderbilt), Shaquila Curtis (Spalding, American) and Melanie Mocniak (St. Mary's, Mount St. Mary's) representing the South.

The ESBC is in partnership with the NBA's Washington Wizards and WNBA's Washington Mystics. Both contests will take place on March 20 following the Wizards' 1 p.m. game against the New Jersey Nets. For tickets to the event, you must purchase a ticket for the Wizards-Nets game.
