Spalding's Lynch going to wrestle at Penn
Archbishop Spalding senior Charlie Lynch will continue his wrestling career at the University of Pennsylvania, said Cavaliers wrestling coach Mike Laidley.
Lynch, who is ranked No. 15 in the country at his 145-pound weight class, has been offered a financial aid package that will pay for most of his education.
Before signing with Penn, Lynch considered Maryland, Virginia, Old Dominion and others.
Laidley said 112-pound senior Cole Gallagher is considering several schools, while 189-pounder KK Smith is looking for a football scholarship and 135-pound Brady Gaynor is "on the fence" about whether to continue wrestling in college.
No. 1 Spalding is 25-0 going in to Tuesday's match at Severna Park. The Cavaliers have what could be their most exciting match of the regular season Wednesday, 6 p.m., at No. 2 McDonogh.
