Spalding's Smith named top AA County player
The Annapolis Touchdown Club today named Archbishop Spalding's K.K. Smith its Rhodes Trophy winner as the best player in Anne Arundel County.
Smith, a running back and linebacker, helped lead the Cavaliers to back-to-back MIAA B Conference championships. This season, he rushed for 1,849 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also had 12 receptions for three touchdowns, returned two punts for touchdowns and scored off a fumble recovery.
At linebacker, the senior had 61 tackles, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
The Rhodes Trophy is voted on by all of the high school football coaches in Anne Arundel County at public and private schools, said Spalding coach Mike Whittles.
