South Carroll's Luette named Ravens Coach of the Week
South Carroll football coach Steve Luette has been named the Ravens High School Coach of the Week.
Luette's Cavaliers moved to 7-0 on Thursday with a 35-0 rout of Manchester Valley. They held the Mavericks to just 28 yards of total offense and have outscored opponents 284-26 this season.
“We stress the whole game plan,” Luette said. “Our defense is playing really well, our offense is scoring a ton of points, and our special teams are putting us in great position to score.”
South Carroll's defense on Thursday forced two turnovers. Senior quarterback Anthony Nardo threw two touchdown passes and rushed for another score, while senior running back Ben McCarty and junior running back Dan Mullen rushed for a touchdown apiece.
“All around, since I’ve been here, this is the most complete and deepest team we’ve had,” said Luette, a second-year head coach who was an assistant with the Cavaliers from 1998-2003. “We’ve got some guys who can step in when needed, and that’s the big difference.”
Luette will be honored along with this season's other winners during the Ravens-Saints game at M&T Bank Stadium on Dec. 19. Previous honorees this season are North Harford's Ken Brinkman, Atholton's Kyle Schmitt, Hereford's Steve Turnbaugh, Gilman's Biff Poggi and the Howard coaching staff.
