North Harford's Brinkman named Ravens Coach of the Week

Fresh off of North Harford's comeback win over Fallston on Friday, Hawks coach Ken Brinkman has been named the Ravens High School Coach for the Week.

Brinkman guided North Harford to a 36-35 win over the previously undefeated Cougars. The Hawks were down 1 after running back Brandon Bayer scored on a 4-yard run with 47 seconds remaining. Instead of kicking the extra point and playing for overtime, Brinkman went for 2.

“The way Brandon had been running the ball in the second half -- he was just running with a mission,” Brinkman said. “I thought I could put it on his shoulders.”

On the two-point conversion, Bayer got the call and ran it in for the lead. He finished with 127 yards rushing and three touchdowns. North Harford defensive back Nate Brockmeyer intercepted Fallston quarterback Grant Kelly on the ensuing drive to seal the win for North Harford.

Brinkman will be honored along with this season's other winners during the Ravens-Saints game at M&T Bank Stadium on Dec. 19. Previous honorees this season are Atholton's Kyle Schmitt, Hereford's Steve Turnbaugh, Gilman's Biff Poggi and the Howard coaching staff.

As a proud Alum of NH '76. I say "Way to go Coach! " Having played on the only NH teams that had success until you came really makes all of proud all of the former players proud. North Harford's distinction of playing in the very 1st State Championship vs Howard in 1974. We as players can always say that. But You and your players for the past 6 years have put consistent winning seasons that have qualified you for the Tournament, is something very special.
I really feeling your team, it's actions on Friday, and the quote I read from a player and a team consensus "We don't play for ties". Qualifies this team as Special. This team has "IT". Don't allow IT stop you from your goals. Because on You (the Team) can keep you (the Team) from it's Goals. Work Hard, Play North Harford TOUGH and stay healthy! See you and M&T!

I'm a current junior at North Harford, and I was so excited to hear this on the radio! Good job team, that was a great game. And congratulations to Coach Brinkman!
