Crunch week in MIAA boys soccer

The Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference is stacked with big games in boys soccer this week, starting Tuesday and continuing through Thursday night.

Top-ranked McDonogh (11-1 overall, 5-0 A Conference) has impressively found separation from the rest of the pack by outscoring leagues foes by a combined 18-1 in its five wins.

On Tuesday, No. 6 Loyola (4-3, 3-2) gets a crack at McDonogh, while surging and No. 12 Calvert Hall (5-2-1, 3-1-1) travels to defending league champ and No. 10 Mount St. Joseph (6-2-1, 3-2-1). Both games are set for 4 p.m.

On Thursday, Mount St. Joseph will try to avenge a 3-0 early-season loss to McDonogh at home at 4 and then a packed stadium is expected at Calvert Hall where the Cardinals take on longtime rival Archbishop Curley (5-4-1, 2-3) under the lights at 7 p.m.
