Loyola's Lardo to play in Tournament of Stars

A.J. Lardo, a rising senior at Loyola, will be the lone Marylander to participate in this week's USA Baseball Tournament of Stars, an annual event showcasing 128 of the nation's top players under the age of 18. The tournament, sponsored by Major League Baseball, is used to select the U-18 national team, representing the U.S. in international competition.

Lardo, a fleet outfielder, batted .438 with seven doubles, five triples, three homers and 32 stolen bases for the Dons this season. He will suit up for the American Legion team, which features players from more than a dozen states.

The tournament runs Wednesday through Sunday in Cary, N.C.
