I-95 Kickoff Classic adds fifth game

McDonogh will face Gonzaga in a fifth high school football game added to the inaugural I-95 Kickoff Classic scheduled for Labor Day weekend at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium.

McDonogh and Gonzaga will play Friday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m., kicking off the two-day event which features teams from the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association and the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, said Tony Kennedy, president and chief executive officer of Extra Point Productions and the organizer of the Classic. The game will be ticketed separately from the four games to follow Saturday, Kennedy said, with tickets sold through the schools.

The Classic will conclude Saturday night, Sept. 4 with a showdown between defending MIAA A Conference champ Gilman and WCAC champ Good Counsel at 7:30 p.m.

The full Saturday lineup, which was set in April:

Mount St. Joseph vs. Bishop McNamara, 10:30 a.m.
Calvert Hall vs. Archbishop Spalding, 1:30 p.m.
Loyola vs. DeMatha, 4:30 p.m.
Gilman vs. Good Counsel, 7:30 p.m.

Sounds like an awesome event!!! It's about time that MD football players get the spotlight & forum they have long deserved!

This game will be broadcast on FOX 1370 Sports Radio in Baltimore and www.sfmsports.net starting at 6:40pm Friday.
