Three locals win Minds in Motion scholarships

Lindsey DiAntonio, from Marriotts Ridge, Joseph Cuff Jr., from Liberty, and Elizabeth French, from Century, were named winners in the third annual Minds in Motion Scholarship program, presented by the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association and sponsored by Allstate.

The three are among only eight student athletes -- four boys and four girls -- from Maryland public schools to be awarded $1,000 scholarships. They will be honored at a luncheon June 2 at M&T Bank Stadium.

The awards are on based on non-weighted grade-point averages, number of sports seasons played and achievements or community contributions outside of sports.

The other winners were Mark Bradley, Easton; Ryan Delaney, Mountain Ridge; Devon Harman, Stephen Decatur; Simon Shahinian, Churchill; and Rachel Novosad, Northwest.
