MIAA baseball scenarios — It's complicated

Here are the scenarios for the MIAA A and B Conference baseball finals at Ripken Stadium.

They're a bit complicated, so try to follow along.

In the A Conference, No. 4 Gilman will have two chances to break Calvert Hall's five-year stranglehold on the title. The Greyhounds, unbeaten so far in the double-elimination tournament, will face No. 7 Calvert Hall Sunday at 1:30. A win there, and Gilman takes the crown. A loss, and the teams meet again Monday for the title.

Monday's game, if necessary, would either take place at 4 or 6:30, depending on what happens in the B Conference. Later today, Severn and Annapolis Area Christian will play for the right to meet Park in the B finals. If Severn wins, the Admirals would face Park Sunday at 4, and would need to defeat the unbeaten Bruins twice to claim the title. A second game, if needed, would be played Monday at 4.

If Annapolis Area Christian makes the finals, however, the first B Conference game wouldn't take place until Monday at 4, with a possible second game set for Tuesday at 6:30.

Of course, the entire schedule would change if Sunday's game are postponed because of rain.

Got that?
