Updated region, state indoor track schedule released

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association released a new schedule for the remaining region and state indoor track meets on Friday morning.

The state meets have been moved back a week after the area was hit by two powerful snowstorms and will now take place Monday, Feb. 22 (Class 1A and 2A) and Tuesday, Feb. 23 (Class 3A and 4A). Both meets are at 4 p.m. at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex.

This allows for completion of the remaining eight regional meets and gives the athletes at least five days before having to turn around and compete in the state meets.

The new region schedule starts Monday at 11 a.m. when the Class 3A East and Central combine with the Class 2A East schools that haven’t competed yet at the Sports and Learning Complex at 11 a.m.

After that, the Class 3A West (Sports and Learning Complex) and Class 2A Central (Fifth Regiment Armory) will go on Tuesday. Both meets will start at 4 p.m.

The Class 1A West Region meet is set for noon on Wednesday at the Hagerstown Community College – with the Class 2A West meet following it there at 4 p.m.

Later that day comes the last region meet, the Class 4A West. That’s set for the Baltimore Armory at 4 p.m.
