IAAM moves basketball tournaments to next week

With school systems now closing for several days and more significant snowfall expected Tuesday night and Wednesday, Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland officials have opted to move the girls basketball tournament to next week.

The new schedule:
First-round games on Monday at the higher seed
Quarterfinals on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the higher seed
Semifinals on Thursday, Feb. 18 at the higher seed
Finals on Sunday, Feb. 21 at a site to be determined

Despite the overlap -- and fields likely still full of snow -- spring sports practices will get underway as scheduled on Feb. 16.
