Former Long Reach hoops standout Webb highlighted
Former Long Reach basketball star Darryl Webb is doing his thing at Indiana University of Pennsylvania these days, and he also found his way on SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays on Wednesday night -- twice.
The 6-foot-6 junior forward earned the No. 8 play with a jaw-dropping baseline jam and then managed to upstage himself with the No. 5 selection, taking a teammate's pass off the backboard and jamming it home.
Webb, who led Long Reach to its only state title in 2006, is having a standout junior season in the college ranks. He's averaging 17.3 points and 10.8 rebounds for IUP (18-2) with 12 double-doubles on the season. The Crimson Hawks are ranked 11th in the NABC Division II Coaches poll and have a share of first place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's West Division with a 7-1 mark.
Webb, who earlier in the season became the program's 25th player to surpass the 1,000-point plateau, has been selected the PSAC West Player of the Week five times this season.
In his senior year at Long Reach, Webb averaged 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds to earn Howard County Player of the Year and second-team All-Metro honors.
