Jason Kidd trade analysis

Looks like the New Jersey Nets finally gave Jason Kidd his wish and shipped him off to a contender.

ESPN.com reports that the Nets and Dallas Mavericks have agreed in principle to a deal that sends Kidd and Malik Allen from New Jersey to Dallas in return for Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagana Diop, Devean George and Maurice Ager.

Here are the fantasy ramifications of this trade:

Jason Kidd, PG (DAL): His fantasy situation is fairly irrelevant in this conversation. He's one of the better point guards and is owned in all leagues. His value probably increases a notch now that he'll be fired up playing for a championship, but again, that's only relevant to the people who own him.

Devin Harris, PG/Marcus Williams PG (NJ): One of these two players figure to get the biggest jump in fantasy value. Marcus Williams, the Nets' first-round pick last year, was supposed to be the heir apparent to Kidd. Harris is the better player right now and will probably suck up the most minutes to starts. Pick up Devin Harris now and keep an eye on the situation to see how the minutes are doled out.

Jerry Stackhouse, G (NJ): Jerry Stackhouse didn't have a ton of fantasy value to begin with and now he has even less. He'll be behind Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson, which means he won't get enough playing time to change his lack of fantasy value.

DeSagana Diop, C (NJ): He is an expiring contract that was thrown into the deal. His value is limited to blocks, but he probably won't play a lot of minutes considering the Nets like to run a lot and he's slow. Also, the Nets are developing Sean Williams and Josh Boone in their front court, which doesn't help Diop's cause.
